Dizzy

Tyler discovered he can twist his swing up and then let go a couple weeks ago. For probably 15 minutes he was playing like this. I told him it was time to go inside and this is what happened when he tried to walk to me.

 

Don't worry, he wasn't hurt at all.  He was more upset that he got wet because there was water sitting on top of the bucket's lid.

Touch-a-truck!

Saturday we went to an awesome event down in St. Charles.  Tyler got to climb in and around probably 15 different trucks.  Plus there was a bounce house slide and obstacle course.  His favorite was the fire truck of course and he was telling the fire fighter all about it.  We’ve never seen him so talkative with strangers.  He was telling him all about the fire hoses, the siren, and the helmets.

We could’ve stayed there all day!  We literally had to drag Ty away.  He had such a ball!

Rain Rain come again!

So, I know it doesn’t make sense, since we moved from the desert,  but I’m pretty sure we brought the rain with us when we moved back to Missouri.  We’ve been back since August 3rd (16 days) and we’ve already had 4 thunderstorms with tons of rain!  The grass was brown when we got here and now it’s almost all green! Awesome.  God knew we needed to feel like we were home and see some green!

BTMO: Day 5

Day 5: Joplin MO to St. Peters, MO
After a tour around Missouri and seeing lots of friends and family we made it to our house around 9:30pm.  We started out the morning by driving to Springfield and Ty got to play with his cousins for awhile.

Then we stopped by the Davis’ to meet baby Lizzy – only 9 days old!  Ty was so good with her and held on to her tight.

Then we went to visit with our good friends from college – the Tierney’s who just moved back to Missouri from Florida!  Super excited that we live in the same state again.  The kiddos – Ethan and Campbell – so cute!

Then after a quick visit with Jeremy’s parents and retrieving our car they drove back for us, we headed 3 hours north to Columbia to meet Gianna – Toth’s new baby.  Sophia loves her baby sister.

We also had dinner with my parents before heading home. Of course Ty had to play with the water hose in the yard so we stripped him down to his underwear and let him play for a couple minutes before we left.

Today we were busy cleaning, unpacking and grocery shopping.  Still waiting to hear from the movers to see when they will arrive with our stuff.  Wonder how long it will take this time…….

BTMO: Day 4

Day 4: Amarillo, TX to Joplin, MO
We made it to Missouri today.  The original plan was to stop in Tulsa and then drive home tomorrow but when we encountered this…

after at least a hour of whining we chose to keep going until…

Woohoo!  We saw proof of the drought all the way through Oklahoma and into Missouri.  For those of you not from here – the grass should be green – not brown.

After we cancelled our reservation in Tulsa I had 2 hours to find a new hotel in Joplin.  I did a smashing job and found our favorite hotel – Homewood Suites and for the cherry on top it just opened Monday so we are staying in a room the nobody else has ever stayed in!  You can still see the seems where they laid the sod.

And because we made it to Joplin we got to eat some delicious Mexican food with my aunt and uncle.  So glad we were able to see them! Meant to get a picture but we were having such a good time I completely forgot.

Only 6 more hours of driving tomorrow with stops in Springfield and Columbia to visit friends and see new babies! 

Why?

Why is the most common question we hear these days. It seemed to start
once the movers came to get our stuff. Now Ty asks why about
everything and there's no point in explaining it before he asks why
because he'll say "why?" anyways. It's cute and annoying at the same
time. Why my nephew was going through this stage I stopped him cold by
responding "why not?". Do far this method hasn't worked on Ty. Whew!
Glad there's only 2 left on this trip!

For my faithful readers (the grandparents) we are in Oklahoma now-a
bordering state-so we are getting closer.

BTMO–day 1, 2, 3

This is our back to Missouri (BTMO)  journal.  I meant to update each day but when your sleeping in hotel room – can’t do much after Ty goes to sleep unless we get a suite so it didn’t happen. 

Day 1 : Las Vegas, NV to Tuba City, AZ
Today we drove about 4.5 hours to see the Grand Canyon before driving about 2 more hours and staying at an Moenkhopi Lodge in Tuba City, AZ.  Of course we visit the Grand Canyon the one day it’s rainy and the visibility was only 93 miles – compared to double that in the winter.  We’re hoping to steal some pictures from Jeremy’s parents (who were there the day before) and claim them as our own.  We did get some cute shots still and Ty loved climbing on all the rocks and trees (Grandma – you might want to skip ahead and not look at some of these pictures.)

Day 2: Tuba City, AZ to Albuquerque, NM
Today we drove to Four Corners Monument – took a couple pictures, Ty fell down – and we left.  We were there probably 10 minutes.   It was cool to see though and now we can say we were there.  I tried to get Ty to do a table on the four corners but I think he was nervous about all the other people there so we took a family shot and headed on to Albuquerque. Not much else to say about this day – the drive was very boring and there was nothing to look.

Not happy about sitting on this circle with everyone looking at him.  You can’t tell because of the shades – but he is not a happy camper.

Before the fall…well actually this is the fall.  Got a cut on his hand and bruised up his knees – funny he felt much better 5 seconds later when he got fruit snacks.

Day 3: Albuquerque, NM to Amarillo, TX
Today we drove to Tucumcari, NM to see the Dinosaur Museum and eat lunch at Del’s.  Two years ago when my mom and I moved my sister to California we drove through here and stayed a night.  It was a Monday and everything in this small Route 66 town was closed.  So, two years later we were able to visit the Dinosaur Museum and eat lunch at Del’s.  The museum was small but cute and the food at Del’s was amazing!  Jeremy had a huge country fried steak and I had chicken strips with homemade REAL mashed potatoes.  And for dessert we had what they called a chocolate rupture cake – it was chocolate cake topped with chocolate cheesecake with white cheesecake bits inside and chocolate chunks on top.  Ahh….so good!

Before we got to our hotel in Amarillo, we stopped by Cadillac Ranch – of course to leave our mark.

I had some spray paint left over from a project earlier this year and it just happened to be in the back of the truck.

After finding Cadillac Ranch by Chris LeDoux, we listened to it on the walk up to the cars.

So, Ty spray painted his first masterpiece on the hood of a Cadillac today.  He thought it was the best thing ever!
